Birmingham Drag & Burlesque Festival presents:
Character Development with Lilly Snatchdragon
Whether you're
developing your first or second act, or you've been performing for
a while, character on stage is incredibly important. From classical
burlesque to neo - your persona or character for those 5 -6 mins on
stage can be the most important part of your act. What are your
character traits? What is driving your character? What motivates
them? These might seem like 'deep' questions for a burlesque act -
but you'd be surprised how thinking about these things can add that
extra layer to it.
Join award winning and BHOF winner, Lilly SnatchDragon who has
built her entire career on her character for an 80 min workshop on
how to connect, reach in and tickle to pull out that character for
your next or current (award winning????) act.
What to bring:
Pen &paper /laptop /phone for notes
If you want to bring some of your costume pieces to play with you

What to Wear: Clothes you can move in. Wear heels if you want.
ABOUT LILLY SNATCHDRAGON:
Lilly SnatchDragon is an
international, award-winning political comedy drag queen, burlesque
artist and compere. Her approach to how the West stereotypes S.E
Asian women won her 'Best Newcomer" at the London Cabaret Awards in
2015. She has been in the Top 10 ‘UK’s Most Influential Burlesque
Performers’ since 2015, including No. 1 in 2017, and currently No.
19 in the world for 2025.
Engagements include The English National Opera and Improbable
Theatre production of ‘Cosi Fan Tutte’ at the London Coliseum,
‘Sound of the Underground’, written by Travis Alabanza, at The
Royal Court Theatre, ‘The Grotteaux’ by Shotgun Carousel at
Woolwich Works and performing in Las Vegas competing at The
Burlesque Hall of Fame 2024 for the ‘small group category, in which
she won with her partner Mark Anthony.
She is also one of the founders of sell-out show ‘LADS’, renowned
all- Asian cabaret collective ‘The Bitten Peach’ and over 40’s
Cabaret show ‘Cougars’.
Birmingham Drag & Burlesque Festival is supported using National
Lottery Funding through Arts Council England.

Sizzling showgirls, daring drag, comedic clowning, bawdy burlesque is but a tease of what is to come; across various venues that contribute and define the creative heartbeat of the city.
